Prices are estimates for a 1,000-mile shipment. Actual quotes depend on exact boat dimensions, beam width, height, weight, and oversize permit requirements for your route.
Trailer vs. Cradle Boat Shipping
If your boat has a road-worthy trailer, tow-away is the cheapest option. No trailer? We provide cradle transport on a flatbed.
Most affordableBoat on Own Trailer
If your boat has its own trailer, a commercial truck driver simply connects the trailer to a tow vehicle and hauls it to the destination. This is the simplest and most affordable method for trailerable boats under 22 feet. Your trailer must be road-worthy with working lights and tires.
- Your trailer towed by commercial truck
- Cheapest option for trailerable boats
- Trailer lights and tires must work
- Standard tow hitch or fifth-wheel
- No oversize permits if under 8.5' wide
- Door-to-door or marina-to-marina
For boats without trailersCradle & Flatbed Transport
Your boat is lifted from the water or storage onto a hydraulic cradle mounted on a flatbed trailer. The cradle conforms to your hull shape and secures the boat with straps. Required for boats stored in marinas without trailers, sailboats, and larger vessels.
- Hydraulic cradle conforms to hull
- Professional marina liftout available
- Full shrink-wrap protection option
- Oversize permits for wide/tall boats
- Escort vehicles for large loads
- Insurance up to full declared value

Provide boat length, beam width, height (on trailer or cradle), weight, and pickup/delivery locations. We calculate based on dimensions, method, permits, and route.
Choose your method
Boat on its own trailer? Tow-away is cheapest. No trailer? We arrange cradle transport. Oversized? Flatbed with escort vehicles.
Prepare your boat
Remove electronics, secure covers, drain water, disconnect batteries, fold antennas. If at a marina, arrange liftout before pickup day.
Pickup & inspection
Driver or marina staff loads the boat, completes a detailed condition report photographing all sides, hull, and transom.
Transit with tracking
Real-time GPS tracking and coordinator updates. Oversize loads travel during daylight hours only per state regulations.
Delivery & launch
Boat delivered to your destination -- home, marina, boat ramp, or storage facility. Inspect against condition report and sign the Bill of Lading.
Boat Prep Checklist
- Remove or secure all portable electronics -- fish finders, GPS units, radios
- Disconnect the battery and secure terminals
- Drain all water from livewells, bilge, and freshwater tanks
- Remove or fold all antennas, outriggers, and tower accessories
- Secure all hatches, covers, and bimini tops -- tie down or remove
- Photograph all sides including hull bottom, transom, and propeller
- If on a trailer: check tire pressure, lug nuts, lights, and coupler
- If in a marina: arrange liftout and coordinate timing with us
- Remove personal items -- tackle, life jackets, coolers, fishing rods
- Note any existing gel coat damage, scratches, or dings on condition report
What affects your boat shipping price
Boat shipping quotes are driven by physical dimensions and permit requirements. Width (beam) is often the single biggest price factor because oversize permits are required above 8.5 feet.
Beam width (most important)
Boats under 8.5' beam ship as standard loads. 8.5-10' requires oversize permits. 10'+ needs wide-load escorts, adding $500-$2,000.
Overall height
Total height on trailer/cradle matters. Anything over 13.5' requires high-load permits and route planning around bridges.
Boat length & weight
Longer, heavier boats need larger trailers and tow vehicles. A 35-foot boat costs 2-3x more to ship than a 20-footer.
Trailer vs. cradle
Boat on its own trailer saves $500-$1,500 vs. cradle. Cradle transport includes hydraulic cradle rental and professional loading.
Distance & route
Longer distances cost less per mile. Coastal routes (FL to NE) have more carrier availability and better rates.
Marina liftout fees
If your boat needs to be lifted from water, marina liftout fees ($150-$500) and haul-out coordination are added to the quote.
